The Creative Portrait Lighting workshop is a full day event covering several aspects of lighting, composing and directing to produce inventive and dynamic portraits. The day is divided into three parts;

Classroom Study as we cover lighting principles, ranges of equipment, choosing modifiers and how to direct posing. For the second portion, we will have Q&A over lunch as we dissect photos, explaining the workflow and thought process behind each. Then we will divide into two groups, one to each instructor, make our way to our location with our models and begin shooting. (Then we alternate and shoot some more!)

All levels of photographer have come through the workshop, as there is truly something to benefit you at every stage of the craft. Whether you are a beginner just getting into photographic lighting and need help deciding future purchases, a hobbyist looking to learn new techniques and pushing your work to the next level, or an established professional looking to refresh or reinvent your own lighting, the information is delivered comprehensively and effectively from two photographers with very different specialties in light. The personal assistance we are able to give by keeping the class sizes small, ensure all your questions are answered and that you truly grasp the info being covered.

Final Creative Portrait Lighting Workshops Announced

The last Creative Lighting workshop is scheduled for September 13th, 2008.

The workshop has evolved a lot since the first workshop held back in February (which was already pretty damn awesome). The feedback from our students and our personal observations has served us well in refining the curriculum and advancing methods and techniques as they are presented and discussed. Since the first workshop, we have continued to refine and develop new lighting techniques as well. We have several new tricks that that will be shared in detail with the last classes.

The long awaited followup to Zero One Studio’s Creative Portrait Lighting Workshop has finally been given a date! This summer we are presenting another full day workshop class AND an advanced class to further build on lighting, posing and directing techniques covered in the first series.

We will fill your head full with lighting principles, purposes and techniques, the “What, Why and How” of creative lighting as it applies to producing eye-catching dynamic portraits. This full-day, student-focused workshop is limited to just a handful of participants to guarantee everyone receives personalized instruction and assisted shooting time with PROFESSIONAL models. The Workshop will be taught by two knowledgeable and experienced people photographers (Christopher Ferguson and Steven Noreyko), exposing you to different workflows and offering their combined experience to your benefit. You will leave a better portrait photographer with tons of lighting know-how!

Advanced Lighting Workshop – July 13th 2008

Advanced Lighting Workshop
Sunday July 13th 2008 4pm – 8pm

So you have got down the basics. Maybe you have bought a few strobes, have worked with a few portraits subjects and have even developed a few lighting techniques of your own… What’s next? Steven and Christopher thought long and hard about the best way to followup our introductory workshop and give you MORE!

Our advanced workshop does just that. Watch each professional photographer work through a full photoshoot, explaining every detail of their complex lighting setup, directing their models and providing valuable tips and tricks of their workflow as you look on. After each demonstration, you slide into the driver seat, utilizing any available equipment and techniques you’ve just learned to create your own photos. After each setup, you’ll sit in with Steven and Christopher to evaluate your results on an LCD monitor before jumping back in to reshoot each set. As usual we’ll have 2 professional models w/ makeup and styling provided.

This is a 4-hour jam-packed evening event that will focus on YOU making great light and great pictures.

Cost for the Advanced workshop is $150 for new comers and only $100 for those who attended the first worskhops.
